| NOC hikes prices of petro-products; transport fare also hiked --2010-04-23 |
Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the prices of petroleum products for the second time in less than one-and-half months citing increased cost price.
A board meeting of NOC Thursday evening decided to increase the price of petrol, diesel and kerosene each by almost Rs 2 per litre.
After the hike, the cost of petrol will be Rs 82 per litre and that of diesel and Kerosene each will be Rs 63 per litre in Kathmandu. The prices will be slightly different in other parts of the country depending on the transportation cost.
NOC had last increased the prices of petroleum products on March 15.
After the latest price hike, the price of transportation fares has also been hiked by 10 percent. The transportation fare, too, was increased by 10 percent less than a month ago.
NOC executive director Digambar Jha said, the prices were hiked as per the revised rate-list sent by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

| Maoists demand Rs 2 million per head for combatants to pull out from integration --2010-04-02 |
The Unified CPN (Maoist) has demanded for Rs 2 million per head as golden handshake for its combatants wishing to pull out of integration into the army to join politics.
Maoist representatives at the technical committee under the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) demanded for either Rs 2 million or five to ten Bigahas of land to each combatant voluntarily wishing to join politics, at a meeting Thursday.
Representatives of other political parties refused the Maoist proposal saying the demand was inappropriate as even government employees get less than Rs 0.5 million at the time of retirement.
AISC had delegated its technical committee to prepare proposals about how the government could support the Maoist combatants who wish to join voluntarily politics. ----nn
